Dr. Jan Faust received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Georgia. After receiving her degree, she completed a fellowship at Children's Hospital at Stanford University Medical Center. Subsequently, she joined the College of Psychology faculty of Nova Southeastern University (NSU) as a professor. After 33 years of service, she left NSU to pursue other endeavors and was honored as Professor Emeritus upon her departure. While at NSU, Dr. Faust developed the Child and Adolescent Traumatic Stress Program, which is a clinical, training, and research facility serving children exposed to traumatic events, including child abuse, witnessing interpersonal violence, experiencing highly conflictual families, accidental injury, and medical traumas. Furthermore, she developed a family forensic component to her trauma program. She also taught as a Full Professor, supervised students in both research and clinical work, and conducted her own research while at NSU.
Dr. Faust has obtained research and foundation grants and has published her scholarly products in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters in the area of child, adolescent, and family psychology and health. Her published and presented research reflects her interest in the area of childhood stress and traumas, including interpersonal and medical traumas, and family forensic psychology. She has presented numerous papers at professional meetings, globally. In addition, she has co-edited two books and wrote a book entitled Reunification Family Therapy: A Treatment Manual, published by Hogrefe Press. Dr. Faust has served as Associate Editor for the APA trauma journal, Psychological Trauma: Theory, Research, Practice, and Policy and was a founding editor of the Journal of Trauma Practice.
